The circular economy roadmap has launched
EUR 175 million from the European Union, five priority sectors and a 2033 horizon.
The official launch of the circular economy roadmap took place at Ebène, led by Expertise France in collaboration with the Ministry of the Environment and funded by the European Union to the tune of 175 million rupees.
The goal is to move Mauritius from a linear economic model to a circular, resilient and durable one over 2023-2033: better resource efficiency, less waste, inclusive growth.
Five sectors are targeted: agri-food, construction, consumer goods, mobility and waste management. The project includes legislative reforms, training and awareness campaigns.
For a small island developing state, circularity is not optional: it strengthens resource security and reduces pressure on vulnerable supply chains. The priority now is execution, sector by sector.
